#1 ¡Hola Mi Familia y Amigos!
What is up! I don't know if this counts as week one, it was only 4 day, but wow I feel like I’ve changed so much, it's crazy. The MTC is exactly and nothing like I thought it would be. Ya know those awkward zoom calls where nobody is really talking? That was kinda the start on Wednesday, with my district. My companion is Elder Kotter from Salt Lake City, he went to Olympus High and he's a super, super chill dude. Probs too chill, but it's all good. I find I say that a ton "It's all Good." Wednesday was really a calm day not going to lie, and then Thursday hit and it was like bam, THE GOSPEL. I haven't been able to sleep well, but I was freaking exhausted, I think I took a nap instead of exercising for the day. Haha that's the best kind of exercise. On Thursday during personal study I came across, Alma 37:46 and 47. It reads:
“O my son, do not let us be slothful because of the easiness of the way; for so was it with our fathers; for so was it prepared for them, that if they would look they might live; even so it is with us. The way is prepared, and if we will look we may live forever.
And now, my son, see that ye take care of these sacred things, yea, see that ye look to God and live. Go unto this people and declare the word, and be sober. My son, farewell.”
It was kinda the first real thing as a missionary that hit me. I was thinking that it was easier than I expected, and it just kinda hit me. Here is Alma testifying to his son Helaman, about the words of Christ leading men to eternal life, and reading it with an eye towards God speaking to me, its powerful man. The way is prepared, take care of these sacred things, look to God, do not be slothful, go unto this people and declare the word, My son, farewell." It was like holy moly dude I’m a missionary, that’s what I gotta do!! So I kinda got excited about a scripture and I was like, “What the heck”, and I wanted to share it with my district and my friends. So that was exciting.
Friday's Spanish was definitely rough, I have Spendlove teaching levels of Spanish. So low to 0 experience. Our tutor connects into the zoom call and says ight, and is like "dfhsadhfosbdjfbjostevsjdf bueno?" and all of us are just like jajajaj que? So that was just the best, but the rest of Friday was actually super nice, I feel like my district just kinda gelled more, and we have all gotten more comfortable with each other. This email isn't very long, but I haven't really been in the MTC very long either jajaja. I’m sure next week’s will be at least a little longer.
I've also learned I should say I love more things than I do. I say it a lot to my family and stuff, but I really love a lot of things. So yeah that’s epic.
Love,
-Elder Petersen
P.S: You guys can basically talk to me whenever you want while I'm in the MTC, I think it's easiest to use Google Hangouts, and add me at maxwell.petersen@missionary.org. Gracias!!
